What a wonderful morning it is! I feel truely blessed. The sun is shining outside, the air is cool and crisp and I can sense the Autumn creeping in. The radiant red apples look magnificent against the clear blue sky. Speechless.
I was initially going to be working today for a pr- firm at an event , but because of my back problems I had to cancel. I have really started to listen to my body and my instincts more. So often I haven't given myself enough time to heal and rest. Job offers will come and go, but this is the body I will have with me for the rest of my life - and it deserves to be treated with respect.
So I've started the morning reading the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper, eating a delicious and nutritious breakfast and listening to the beautiful and breathtaking music of U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind album.
Breakfast Tip:
Mix together low fat quark, low fat buttermilk with lactid acid bacteria, wheat germ, rye bran, a chopped apple (mine was from our own tree) and a sliced banana to sweeten it up, because buttermilk and quark are quite sour. Substitute the fruit for berries or other fruits, add nuts or seeds and even a sprinkle of cinnamon. Packed with proteins, fibers, vitamins and minerals! Yumyum!
I haven't made any specific plans for the day yet. Which is how I've been living almost all summer. For so many years I lived with a full booked calendar and it has been amazing to let go of that. To decide each morning what it is exactly that I want to do. Freedom. For many years in high school I had a specific agenda for absolutely every aspect of my life. And that eventually led to malaise. We all need rules, structure, routines. But oh the joy of spontaneity. Never lose that.
And remember. No one can change their past, but we can all make a new beginning today and make the rest of the journey whatever we want. It's not about the destination, but the journey.
